Blackthorn
‘Gossamer Witchcraft’ sees the start of what looks to be a very successful career for Russian Gothic metal band Blackthorn. The album is a collection of songs that presents a combination of styles including Gothic metal, black metal and classical music. The lyrics are inspired by witchcraft, misanthropy and ancient cults. What makes this musical blend so enchanting is that the band is all female. Blackthorn have set a new standard for female extreme metal that has quickly seen them become fan favourites.
Blackthorn are:
- Aina: Soprano/Screams
- Elvira: Guitar
- Freya: Keys/Hysteric Screams
- Greta: Bass Guitar
- Varaska: Drums
Formed in 2004 Blackthorn released their first demo ‘The Prologue of Eschaton’ in 2007 and gained a lot of postive reviews in their native Russia. Offers of gigs throughout Russia followed allowing the band to perfect their (witch)craft. With a stronger sound then ever ‘Gossamer Witchcraft’ was mixed and mastered at Kivrecords Studio, Moscow.
Recently the band have been touring and working in the studio on their second album.
Hunter's Moon Records has released an Internet Exclusive digital version of 'Gossamer Witchcraft', which contains two exclusive tracks sung in Russian. You can buy it now in our Store or from:
